Reading Positions
I've come across this kind of topic when I saw this post from The Book Riot. And it made me think just how weird I am when I read books. To me, reading is something that soothes me, so I have three positions that I'm always in whenever I read books.

3rd Fave Reading Position: Standing Up
I know that this is pretty weird, I mean, who reads standing up?! But truthfully, I love reading while I'm standing up, tho it gets tiresome, I can stay in this position longer than reading while sitting in a chair. I guess that's why I love reading while walking too. (But I stopped, 'cuz I tripped a lot while I did that :D)
2nd Fave Reading Position : Indian Sit
Tho, I don't stay in this position much, but its my second most usual position when I'm reading. And I think every reader has been in this position whenever they're reading. I usually do this whenever I'm too tired standing up.
My Super Fave Reading Position : Curled up, while lying down
I am usually found like this around the house. And by usually, I mean all the dang time.
Whether its on my bed, on the cold floor, on the couch, on my mom and dad's bed, or in the nook somewhere around the house, near the wall, under the dining table, or near the T.V. I love curling up anywhere and reading a book. And usually I can stay like this the whole day. And I mean that literally.

Standing up? Seriously? O.o I think I'd fall over every time I read some swoony part in the book! :P
ReplyDeleteI usually sit/lie down in bed if I'm at home. It's kinda cool that you can read anywhere-I cannot read while travelling 'cause motion sickness. What about you? :)
hahaha :D That happens a lot to me! When I get swoony tho, I just jump up and down ;)
DeleteAlone or not, I end up curled up reading on the floor. I can read anywhere, even when I'm traveling, but I can't read if there's distracting noise. :D
I only read standing up when I have to wait. :P like on a train or in a mall or something. I can't imagine reading while walking. Haha! I could probably listen to an Audiovox while walking though. I might just look weird if I start laughing or something. XD
ReplyDeleteMy favorite reading position is lying down on my bed. Well, that's usually the first position. After that, there will be a lot of moving. Curling up. Moving to my side. Lying belly down. Etc. :P
Hahaha, I read while I walk home to the terminal, but not always, only when I have my classmates around me. I usually stay longer curled up reading, on the hottest times of summer, I became bestfriends with the tiles because they felt so cold. :D
DeleteI do the standing up all the time! Especially when my family and I go out for shopping and mall-hopping and I just follow them behind while reading on my Kindle... haha. I'm never without my Kindle when we got out. My favorite position has got to be curled up, though. So comfortable!

Definitely! haha, usually when mom goes shopping, I follow around while I'm reading, problem was I always bumped into someone :D
DeleteMy fave position is curled up while lying down too, especially when reading on my Kindle. It's so comfortable! When reading a print book though I like to do 'Indian sit' on my bed or sofa. :)

Lol. Though I am the most comfortable lying down, I can pretty much read in any kind of pose. :)

DeleteI'm not sure if I have a fave position. Just anywhere that is comfortable for me. haha one time I went into a reading coma and found myself upside down with my legs and arms sticking up in the air holding the book! P.S. it was actually quite comfy :P

DeleteWhen I am at work, I read sitting down. But I do find myself reading in bed, not really curled up, but on my side, or just lounging on top of the bed. I like the comfort I feel when I'm reading in bed. I read standing up when I'm waiting for a ride (when there's no place to sit on).

DeleteStrangle, I do read standing in the kitchen at times when I'm cooking and have a few minutes here and there. But usually I sit on my sofa with my legs curled under me, or in bed. I'd love to know where the strangest place is that people have read :D

DeleteThe curled up position is definitely my favorite! I love reading while lying down on my bed, especially during winter with a blanket wrapped around me. So cosy! But it's a bit difficult when I'm reading a paperback. :P

ReplyDeleteI love reading on the bed, too. Best position ever! Hahaha! I also read standing up, usually during bus trips going to and from work (kapag tayuan na). I use my phone so it's easier. I just stop when motion sickness attacks.

Oh Jules that is so random that you like to read standing up lol! I remember when I was in primary school I used to read my giant Matilda book while walking around XD I guess my favourite position is reading lying down as well but it does get tiring holding the book up or bending my head in an awkward angle.

DeleteI had the worst stiff neck once, I didn't read all day after that. :(
It's kinda weird that you like reading while standing. I only do that when I'm in a train or public bus or waiting in long lines.
ReplyDeleteMy reading position: It actually depends on the book that I'm reading. If I have a hardbound book, I will have to sit in a couch, I find it comfortable than lying in my bed. The book is heavy, you know!
If it's a paperback, then my perfect reading position is lying in my back or stomach with a soft pillow. When I get tired, I'll go back in my couch again or my bean bag!

That chair looks so comfortable and cozy! :3 I read everywhere so I have no problems, just as long as I have my favorite pillow :)
DeleteI don't have a favourite position for reading! I've tried a whole bunch but so far haven't really found one that is super comfortable for me. I read the most lying on my stomach on my bed though which my mum doesn't like much because it isn't as good for my eyes as sitting up. So I'm still on the hunt for that favourite position and area for me to read! :) Interesting post though. I love the illustration you found.

DeleteI read a lot while walking! :D It's just a normal thing for me to do now, as long as I'm familiar in the place I'm walking in. ;) I also read while going up and down the stairs, but someone has to hold me, HAHA! I CAN'T read curled up on the bed. My arms will start to hurt and I'll find a different position. Lying down normally's okay with me. ;D
